My boys and I love to ride bikes. It is one of our favorite things to do together, although Jonah, my youngest, has a harder time than his older brother, Jake. He’s just beginning to get the hang of it.
Reaching younger men—especially Millennials—is a hot topic. The deceiver wants us to think that suddenly, after all these centuries, there is now some new, mysterious, opaque wall between the generations that cannot be described or penetrated. That’s Myth #1 and it’s nonsense. They’re our children for Pete’s sake, not aliens.
Younger men, you do need guidance from older men. At the same time, the myth that the older generation has it all together must be erased. We don’t. We are learning and growing in many of the same ways young men are.
We men soothe ourselves with illusions of strength. With fantasies of control. Digital delusions. Daydreaming about becoming titans in our own world—respected, loved, honored, desired. “Well done, good and faithful servant” is a footnote to a more carnal goal: Men want to be him, women want to be with him (Matthew 25:21).

I love youth leaders. And, although I get to train thousands of them all across the nation every year, one of my favorite things is learning from them. Many youth leaders have great and effective strategies that they’re implementing to create the most impacting youth group programs possible.
Statistics tell us that the most common forms of media/entertainment among teenagers are: social media and video games. Statistically speaking, girls dominate social media and boys dominate video games. These are not exclusive categories as many guys engage on social media and many girls play video games.
